Abstract:
This data set combined attributes from the USGS GNIS coverage with
linework showing city limit boundaries in the state of Oregon
Purpose:
This dataset is for determining the general location of city limits
in the state of Oregon. The most precise city limit boundaries are
kept by individual cities. The data is meant to be used with other
1:24000 scale data. The city limit boundaries were created by
ODOT for use with the states road coverages.
Supplemental Information:
Procedures_Used - The original data set was created by digitizing 1:24000 USGS quad
maps. The original dataset is checked against annexation
records in order to maintain an up to date line coverage.
The line coverage which is created in an integraph (dgn) format
by ODOT is coverted into Arc/Info format by the SSCGIS using
the igdsarc command. The linework was combined with data
from the USGS GNIS coverage adding further data to the
coverage.
Revisions - Odot updates the city limits coverage 4 times a year. The
current data layer does not reflect the newest data created
by odot. The SSCGIS will begin updating the coverage
quarterly in the fall of 1997.
Reviews to data Unknown - The current data set was created prior to the
tenure of the current SSCGIS project manager and data
team. An updated version will be completed, checked
and published on the SSCGIS web site in the Fall of 1997.

The data is meant to be used with 1:24000 scale data. It was
hand digitized off 1:24k quad sheets. It is updated by
comparing it with information from the Secretary of States
office in order to incorporate new annexations. The ODOT
coverage is updated quarterly, but this dataset was created
using 1996 data.
